'TIS ALMOST THE SEASON
Gift ideas for every room in the house

by Tara Wood

Neckties? Not necessarily.
Fruitcake? Forget about it.
Posh perfumes? Pu-leease.

You'd like to give or receive a holiday gift that's actually useful, you say? Something that shows some thought on the part of the giver?

Almost everyone enjoys gifts that fulfill a need, make life a little easier or are just plain fun. With that in mind, Quest's gift to readers is the 2000 edition of our annual Holiday Gift Guide, delivered with plenty of shopping days left before Christmas or Hanukkah.

This year, we present gift ideas for every room in the house. Items vary from dream gifts to stocking stuffers in a wide range of prices, and most were designed with people with disabilities in mind. Please remember that prices quoted here don't account for differences among local distributors or retailers, or reflect holiday sale prices.

Use these ideas for shopping for loved ones, or to beef up your own list to Santa Claus. (Hint: It can't hurt to circle items and leave this magazine lying around conspicuously.) Happy shopping!
