There are many things that people with neuromuscular diseases, their caregivers, their teachers and their friends can do to make living with disabilities easier and more enjoyable. MDA offers help in this area through its publications as well as its support groups.

Topic: Major Research Developments

MDA is the largest nongovernmental sponsor of research seeking treatments and cures for neuromuscular disorders. The Association currently funds about 400 research projects worldwide. MDA scientists are among the world leaders in a variety of fields, including gene therapy. MDA is responsible for finding successful treatments for several diseases and continues the search for treatments and cures for all the diseases it covers. Much MDA-sponsored research has applications for other diseases.
