Spinal muscular atrophy, 20-plus years, symptoms since childhood

What:

State commissioner for the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission, overseeing and monitoring programs to help people with severe disabilities find employment. Former defense attorney representing people with disabilities. Former Ms. Wheelchair America runner-up..

How:

Creates new programs, including on-the-job training, to enable people with disabilities to overcome obstacles to employment.

Denise says:

"I can truly understand what people with disabilities go through [to find employment]. And I think that understanding what they're going through, I can better help them to find a job that they need and they want. Nobody understands until they've been through it."
