COMEDIAN BOB ZANY ELECTED
TO MDA NATIONAL LEADERSHIP

TUCSON, Ariz., Sept. 16, 2004 – Comedian Bob Zany of Los Angeles
has been elected to the national leadership of the Muscular Dystrophy
Association.
Zany was named to a one-year term as a national vice president of the
voluntary health organization during a recent meeting of MDA’s
Board of Directors. MDA vice presidents provide counsel in their areas
of expertise and assist the Association through advocacy and staunch
support of its lifesaving programs and activities.
Zany has performed his wry comedy on the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon for several years, and has served as a co-host of the annual extravaganza.
Zany has performed comedy since 1977 in comedy clubs and on television,
including appearances on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
He presents “The Zany Report,” a regular fixture on the
“Bob and Tom Show,” a popular syndicated radio show. Zany
has been nominated three times for Best Male Comedian of the Year by
the American Comedy Awards.

MDA is working to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases through

nationwide, including clinics at the University of California-Los Angeles,
the Hospital of the Good Samaritan at the University of Southern California
and Rancho Los Amigos at the University of California-Irvine. The Association also maintains MDA/ALS
centers at USC,UCLA and UC-Irvine, for research and treatment of Lou
Gehrig’s disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
The Association’s programs are funded almost entirely by individual
private contributors.
