Ed McMahon to Testify for Federal Funding of MD Research

Television personality Ed McMahon will appear before a congressional subcommittee Wednesday to support MDA's push for additional federal funding of muscular dystrophy research. The popular entertainer and MDA national vice president will appeal to members of the Subcommittee on Health of the House Energy and Commerce Committee to support legislation that will beef up the National Institutes of Health's focus on muscular dystrophy research.

MDA expects a bill similar to S. 805, the MD-Care Act, now in the Senate, to gain broad support in the House of Representatives soon.

Sharon Hesterlee, MDA's director of research development, will also be present at the hearing.
