MDA Establishes Online Shopping Village
New Fund-raising Partnership Begins With Special Valentine's Day Flower Offering

TUCSON, Ariz., Feb. 1, 2000 — "I love to play cupid," said Jerry Lewis, MDA national chairman, "so I'm delighted that the Muscular Dystrophy Association is launching its online shopping village today with a special Valentine's Day offering from GreaterGood.com and 1-800-FLOWERS.COM. Tens of thousands of popular products, from over 80 brand name retailers, are now available at www.mda.org year-round, and 'my kids' will receive a 5 percent to 15 percent contribution whenever people begin their online shopping at the MDA Web site."

Between now and Valentine's Day, consumers can purchase the MDA Bouquet for $44.95 and MDA will receive an automatic $5 donation from MDA's online partners. Secure online purchases of the dazzling arrangement, shipped priority overnight, can be made at the new MDA shopping village at www.mda.org or www.GreaterGood.com. Orders may also be placed through 1-800-FLOWERS.COM or by calling 1-800-Flowers (1-800-356-9377).

The MDA Bouquet for "Jerry's kids" features six long-stemmed hot pink roses nestled among bright purple and pink Matsumoto asters and surrounded by cheerful yellow solidaster. In addition to the card that 1-800-FLOWERS.COM includes from the sender, the MDA Bouquet is also accompanied by a special thank-you card from Jerry Lewis. It informs recipients of the help their loved one(s) provided to "Jerry's kids" by sending the MDA Bouquet.

The new MDA shopping village was created with the assistance of GreaterGood.com, the nation's leading cause-related e-commerce company. The MDA shopping village offers the public an easy way to support its lifesaving mission - simply by beginning their shopping at www.mda.org. And it doesn't cost consumers - or MDA - a penny extra.

A contribution of 5 percent to 15 percent of all shoppers' purchases from the more than 80 retailers in the MDA online shopping village will assist more than a million Americans with neuromuscular diseases by helping MDA fund worldwide research and provide comprehensive medical and community services.

Beginning Feb. 1, GreaterGood.com will feature a special Web page for consumers to buy the MDA Bouquet and a variety of other Valentine's Day gifts to benefit MDA.

"Creating opportunities, through partnerships such as this one with MDA and 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, is GreaterGood.com's way to give back to organizations that make our world a better place," said Randy Dirth, chief executive officer of GreaterGood.com. "Our goal with this project is to help make a difference for people with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases."

Nonprofit organizations representing more than 30 million supporters have partnered with GreaterGood.com since its launch early last year. These 30 million and others are encouraged to shop online and choose items from a network of over 80 retailers. Each time a purchase is made, a portion of the sale goes to the shopper's charity of choice - at no extra cost to the shopper.
