Margaret has been painting for 25 years. Her other hobbies include knitting and cooking. Her brother, who also is affected by limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, built the frame for this artwork.

Jan earned a B.A. in English, and has received awards for photography and painting. She also has authored numerous articles and two books, and is a member of the MDA National Task Force on Public Awareness. Jan was named the 2001 MDA National Personal Achievement Award recipient. This painting was created after Jan, herself a former fire fighter, saw a photo taken through a window showing fire fighters working through the rubble at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11. Creating this beautiful artwork helped her with her own healing following the tragic event.

David’s hobbies included painting, building model cars and miniature houses, as well as creating decorative metalwork. He was a member of the Bald Eagle Art League.

Bill was involved in politics for many years, and his paintings have been exhibited in the Lackawanna Arts Festival. He was a noted writer, having published his autobiography in 2001, and one of his plays was produced by the Scranton Public Theatre. In 1993, Bill received the MDA Personal Achievement Award for Pennsylvania.

Barbara received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Kent State University.Her work has been seen in numerous galleries and exhibits nationwide, as well as featured on notecards and calendars. Barbara’s book, “A Wing and a Prayer: An Artist's Journey with Muscular Dystrophy,” was published in 2007. She was a member of the Ohio Watercolor Society.

Michael retired in January 2006 as the executive officer in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Buffalo, where he conducted research on the causes of muscular dystrophy. He’s an accomplished painter whose works are accepted at juried shows.

Ariane was an accomplished New York artist whose works are in many permanent collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Philadelphia museum of Art. Her stylized representational figures and exuberant use of color were distinctly her own.

Edward received numerous awards in juried shows and art festivals throughout New England. He exhibited in group shows as well as six individual shows. Edward’s works also are seen in permanent collections nationwide and abroad.

Ruth was an elementary school teacher, guidance counselor and tutor. She held bachelor's and master's degrees from Regis College and Framingham State College in Massachusetts. Her artwork has been exhibited throughout New England. Ruth also served as the 1999 MDA Personal Achievement Award recipient for Massachusetts

Craig graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno. He has been drawing for many years and has participated in numerous exhibits in Nevada, including an MDA Art Collection exhibit at the Metro Gallery in Reno in the fall of 2001.
