Daniel created this artwork at age 14 at an MDA-sponsored bilingual seminar in Houston.

Jim received numerous awards for his artwork, including the Mayor’s Artist of the Year award in 1988. His work has been displayed in several galleries throughout Tennessee.

Shane created this artwork for a school project at age 7. He painted with acrylics on the reverse side of acetate paper. Shane served as the 2004 and 2005 MDA Rhode Island State Goodwill Ambassador.

Dean graduated from Southwest State University in Marshall. His paintings have been seen in numerous galleries and exhibits as well as the governor’s residence. Dean used both thick and thin paint to create contrast in his works.

Nick created this artwork at age 9 in an MDA-sponsored children’s art workshop held at the Detroit Institute of Art. He served two terms as MDA’s Michigan State Goodwill Ambassador.

Mario has enjoyed photography for many years. He graduated from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and works as a lawyer for the U.S. Department of Labor. This photograph was taken with a Nikon APS camera while Mario was on a trip to Germany in 2000. It’s a photo of the Heilig-Geist- Spital (Hospital of the Holy Spirit) in Nuremberg.

Tommy began creating art in childhood. He has a bachelor’s degree from the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore. Tommy’s work has been exhibited at jazz festivals, museums and galleries throughout the country. His subjects range from the beauty and grace of ballerinas to the speed and power of horse racing. Tommy’s work also captures the essence of some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians.

Mark created this self-portrait at age 17 at an MDA-sponsored children’s art workshop held at the Tucson Museum of Art. He graduated from Sabino High School. Mark’s interests include photography and classic cars.

Carlos began painting professionally in 2007. He works part-time for the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles. During his teen years, Carlos looked forward to playing baseball professionally, but weakness in his legs and pain while walking and running led to a diagnosis of BMD. As a child he enjoyed drawing, music and poetry. One of his paintings is used in the packaging of Ocumare Grand dark chocolate, produced by Amano.
