barryc (Apr 11, 2007 8:13:43 PM)
Here is something positive that just happens. I learned that some national park rangers do tours for people with accessibiity issues. Terry loves animals and dreams of working for the park service.... SOOO I booked a trip this July... we are going to Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks... our park ranger with take us to favorite animal sitings... and much more... fishing in a lake in the Tetons... and float trip down Snake River... should be a blast.... I am sooooo glad it will be an accessible tour.

REDHEADER (Apr 11, 2007 8:13:46 PM)

barryc (Apr 11, 2007 8:15:34 PM)

I was on ritalyn and provigil for a while, but it only worked for a very short time, so I stopped. My daughter isnt sleepy - she has some learning disabilities in a half day self contained classroom, and takes PT, OT, speech and oral motor therapy, and my son still takes naps after school, and goes to bed a 8:00, so w think there may be something there, but not sure yet. He gets all services my daughter does, plus he is in a disabled preschool class, starting a special kindergarden next year.

barryc (Apr 11, 2007 8:27:25 PM)

Unfortunately, I don't think the shcool system has that type of testing - these verbally handicaps have really just been getting "popular" for lack of a beeter word, in town. Theyve gone from 15 kids in disabled classes to 70 something in two years from two small classes to 5 large ones

Someone from our HMO (Kaiser) came out yesterday and put cinder blocks under our bed to raiser it higher. Jeff was having trouble getting up out of bed. Worked like a charm this morning. Also, they are sending someone out tomorrow to install shower hoses in both showers. They also sent someone out to help him shower, dress and shave yesterday. She will come back tomorrow and 2 times next week. They are also sending out an occupational therapist and a physical therapist. They may install a trapeze bar in the bedroom if his arms are strong enough.

eeyore (Apr 11, 2007 9:00:31 PM)
My sister has 100 repeats and no symptoms - the doc also said she may never, but she is trying to have kids and was afraid to pass it, so she is doing in vitro with no luck so far.

Robyn-G (Apr 11, 2007 9:00:50 PM)
how old is your sister, eeyore?

barryc (Apr 11, 2007 9:00:52 PM)
the number of repeats are indicative of the severity of MMD, but there is lots of variation,,,, especially for mid range repeats... very few repeats means minimal symptoms... very high repeats means more like problems... but mid range is not so clear.

phoenixw78 (Apr 11, 2007 9:00:53 PM)
how old is your sister?

eeyore (Apr 11, 2007 9:01:04 PM)

Robyn-G (Apr 11, 2007 9:03:14 PM)
