Christmas Dinner by MaryAnn Miller MaryAnn is an award-winning professional artist and retired public school educator. Her works have been exhibited in numerous juried shows in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York City. This artwork was featured in the 1999 MDA Holiday Wishes card collection. His works were featured for several years in the MDA Holiday Wishes card collection. This artwork was painted specifically for the 1999 collection. Clown by Samuel Williams Samuel created this artwork at age 7. He served as the 1998 and 1999 MDA State Goodwill Ambassador for North Carolina. Samuel’s favorite activities include reading and karate. She has two pieces of artwork in the Art Collection. He specialized in painting people, especially children, and loved to paint clowns and other happy characters. Monty won many awards and his paintings have been exhibited throughout Florida. Coler by Lauren Sanford Lauren created this artwork at age nine at an MDA-sponsored children's art workshop at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston on April 24, 1994. He has a bachelor’s degree from the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore. Tommy’s work has been exhibited at jazz festivals, museums and galleries throughout the country. His subjects cover a wide range from the beauty and gracefulness of ballerina’s to the speed and power of horse racing, and also captures the essence of some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians. Come Fly with Me by Martin Lauer Martin became interested in drawing in high school. He constantly was “doodling” on any type of paper with colored pencils, pens or markers. Doodling became his therapy. It usually takes Martin four to six months to complete a work. He attempts to invoke happiness, pleasure and well-being in each of his pieces. Cuddly Christmas Bear by Shane Bourque Shane created this artwork as a school project at age 7. He painted with acrylics on the reverse side of acetate paper. Shane served as the 2004 and 2005 MDA Rhode Island State Goodwill Ambassador. He has been working for the state of Nevada for over 25 years and some of his photos have been used in Nevada state publicity materials. His other hobbies include woodworking, traveling, landscaping and bird watching. Richard has won awards for his artwork at local county fairs. Delight in His Beauty by Theresa Baca Poche Theresa began painting in 1995 and has found it to be a great stress-relieving hobby. She has won awards for artwork and photographs displayed in Palm Springs. Along with painting, she enjoys taking photos and spending time with family. He was a member of the Bald Eagle Art League. Discovering Gold by Elizabeth Shirk Elizabeth has a degree in Graphic Communications from San Diego State University. She first specialized in printmaking and received numerous awards for her works, including Best of Show. Since 1990 Beth has worked in watermedia and she frequently has works in juried exhibitions. Her husband, Mike, also has paintings in the MDA Art Collection and they both are members of the San Diego Watercolor Society. She began creating artwork as a toddler as soon as she realized paint was not something to eat! Her artwork has won awards in juried shows and she was the winner of the 2008 Neurology Now magazine art contest. Along with creating artwork, Elisabeth enjoys reading, good tea and she’s a comic and Renaissance Fest fan.
