Dhruv began drawing pictures as a very young boy.  He especially enjoys drawing cars and Star Wars characters and playing robotics and video games.  His favorite school subjects are math and science.  This drawing was reversed from black on white to white on black.

Haleigh served as the MDA National Goodwill Ambassador in 1968-69.  Her mother was an artist and encouraged Haleigh in art as a child.  When the effects of the CMT caused a loss of dexterity in her hands, she was inspired to create artwork using computer programs.  Haleigh has exhibited works in galleries in the Royal Oak area.

4 Pottery Vases

These four vases were created at the 1996 MDA Summer Camp help in June at Camp Shadow Pines in Heber, Arizona.  During the weeklong session, 62 Campers participated in the project with the assistance of Kurt Brill, a professional sculptor from Tucson.  Each vase features individual children's handprints and names.

Al has been involved in art all his life.  He has won numerous awards for his sculpture including first place in shows sponsored by the city of Beverly Hills and the Chambers of Commerce of Century City and Westwood in Los Angeles.  He also is a decorated World War II marine having served in the Pacific Theater, including Guadalcanal.

50 Years of Caring

Morgan’s hobbies include riding horses, painting, reading and swimming.  She, along with some help from her father Ron, who is a fire fighter, created this artwork in 2004 to honor the International Association of Fire Fighters during its 50th anniversary as an MDA sponsor.  Morgan was profiled on the 2003 MDA Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.  She served as the 2004 MDA Goodwill Ambassador for Missouri and the 2005 MDA National Goodwill Ambassador.

A Calm Beautiful Autumn Day

Robin created this painting at age 17 at an MDA-sponsored workshop held at the Methodist Hospital in Houston.  In high school student, he won school awards for his artwork.  He also was a member of the National Honor Society and a National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist.  Robin attended the University of Houston.

Artists Brushes In Sunlight

Howard has been taking photos over 30 years.  His subjects include abstracts, animals, people, nature, scenes and still lifes. This photograph depicts the brushes his mother, Adele Feigenbaum, used in creating artwork for many years and that still contain colorful traces of paint.  Her work, “Balloon Vendor,” was one of the first to be accepted into the MDA Art Collection when it began in 1992.  The brushes are wrapped in the proper fashion that artists use when they are finished working.

Ruth was an elementary teacher, guidance counselor and tutor.  She held bachelor and master’s degrees from Regis College and Framingham State College in Massachusetts.  Her artwork has been exhibited throughout New England.  Ruth also served as the 1999 MDA Personal Achievement Award recipient for Masachusetts.
